David Pictures!

Ok, so anyone wanna take a stab at why I might not be happy after seeing this picture? Anyone? Yeah. That's right. My retardo husband is trying to get hurt by being all GI Jo-ey in the top of the damn humvee so he can have the biiiiig gun. Yeah, well, you aren't so manly when you drop it on your foot, are you hot shot?

And, of course, another picture of David looking like a goon. I wonder if he knows how to smile? I'm sure there is one in there somewhere.

This is one of the kitties that hangs out where he is. I am sending catnip. Some people send their husbands items so he can enjoy the comfort of home. Me? No! I send stuff so the cats can get high!

Anyway, David finalllllly got his camera. There is no memory stick....stupid wifey, so he takes 16 at a time for now. When he e-mails them home if there are any good ones that have been US GOV approved for distriubtion (meaning I won't go to jail or anything for putting it up) I will. Check back for some more later. Now that he has his camera I am sure lots more pictures will pop up.

New Baby Names

Ok, so for a girl we have Alexandra Caralyn Rusin but the boy one we are having difficulty with. Help me out and vote for one of these:

Benjamin Michael ( We started here and I am undecided...... )

Logan Michael

Jonathon Michael

Try it out, yell it like you would at a kid....say it lovingly, use the last name, everything. Let us know which you think is best.

I Hate Getting My Hair Cut!

Ok, so everyone be brutally honest. Is it ok? She took off 6-7 inches. I don't like how curly my hair is when it's short, but I keep hearing "It's cute", which to me means it's hiddeous and no one knows how to say so.

Vacations Suck

Ok, so this is mostly pictures. David has been k'vetching about updating these pages so here are "family" pictures. I am gonna put Sam pics up on her page probably tomorrow. We went to Philly, Jersey, Ellis Island and Manhattan. Long weekend and then I had to say goodbye to David. Sucky Vacation! Enjoy some pics. Most of them are of stuff because I was taking pictures.

This one is pretty self explanitory.

This one too.

This is Independance Hall. This is where the Declaration was signed and all. We didn't get to go inside :-( Maybe next time.

Strollin Round Philly. Lindsey, Ryan, David and Samantha.

This was the ride to the Statue of Liberty. It was cool but I was terrified Sam was gonna go take a swim....

And that would be Lady Liberty herself. (Odd that Colossus was a naked guy and she is a clothed female. Anywho...)

I was trying to get an up the skirt shot. She wasn't givin it up. I was actually really surprised at how small the statue is. In all those movies they make her look so huge and formidable and all. She really isn't that big.

My husband is an idiot. I love him though. He is Mr. Liberty here. Be thankful I left out his Captain Morgan pose that followed. If you look closely you can have a laugh with me because his fly is down!

Well, duh, this is Times Square. I had one of all of us there but it really didn't turn out. However, I thought I'd put this up to kind of chronicle where we went.

These people are MORONS!!!

This is Sam and David playing in New Jersey before we left.

I love this. This is still in PA, so like 6 hours in, and she just wanted out already. Yeah, only 14 more hours to go.

This was the only thing worth mention in Indiana.

Keeping busy

I have been trying to keep busy so I ventured out to the art museum, which sadly I have never been to. I was surprised at how many Monet's they had. I got water lillys here. It was funny because the person I was with didn't know what or who or anything, and didn't really care when I told him, but I was in awe. I am so sentimental and to be in front of something that such a great painter once stood in front of....wow.

All You Need Is Love

Is it possible to love someone so much that you, or they, explode? Ok, so in my cynical state I am searching for things that I love, and things that I love about people. So, I thought I'd share for anyone that needs some inspiration.

Things I love about Samantha:
the way her toes curl when you tickle her belly
her scrunchie face, even at 2 am
the way she snorts when she hugs you and buries her face in your shirt
her stubbornness (most of the time)
how she smiles at you and looks you in the eye as she does something bad...while you are telling her no and coming to remove her!
how she chases the dog around the house squealing
mama, enough said
how she cuddles in the bed and beats my head when she wakes up to let me know it's time for breakfast
that right now I am the most important person in her life, not a boyfriend or gaggle of silly girls, just mommy (well, and daddy)

Things I love about David:
how silly he is with Samantha!
his ability to make me feel like there isn't a care in the world when I'm stressed
his hugs and their healing powers
when he puts his foot in his mouth, and in an attempt to remove it lodges it further in and down his throat
how much he supports me in all that I do whether he likes it or not
selfless service...even though I'd rather him be home right now
his wonderful smile, gorgeous eyes, and his butt ain't too bad either!

Things I love in general:
"Goldilocks" days (not too hot, not too cold)
a really upbeat song to cure the blues
therapeutic shopping
a nice, quiet day at home alone!!!
my family

Later Dude. Enjoy Jersey....

Anyone wants David's e-mail or snail mail address just e-mail me and I'll get it to you. So these were the best pics I actually got from his ceremony. The freakin news cameras were in front of me the whole time so I didn't really see much anyway. And I forgot to get pics of me and him and sam. My brain isn't working, it's just sad.

We miss you something fierce!

(So, originally I started this blog so I could keep in contact with the wonderful boyfriend as he went overseas, and now I will come full circle and use it as the wonderful husband goes overseas.)
All is sad in the Rusin Household. Whiny mommy, crabby baby, clingy dog. I am tired of people asking how I am. How the F**K do you think I am? 2 days....2 days and I want to rip someones head off. This is gonna be fun....
So, Sammi really isn't too moody, yet. She was disappointed to wake up this morning and find that you, dada, were gone again. She was all pumped and psyched and smacked the bed yelling DADA!!! and then realized you weren't there. She is used to you being gone for drill, and Lisa pointed out that maybe she is ok with you being gone a few days but that when it continues to happen she will probably freak out more. Which sucks becuase after we see you on Saturday I am probably going to have to start all over again. Wow, that's tomorrow. I need to get directions....mapquest. Ok, 1 hour drive.
I miss you. I need the hugs. Actually, I really need to go study for my final....but I need hugs too. Oh, and for these hiccups to go away. Well, I'll talk to you later babe.
I love you to the end of the universe and back again.

Sleep Please

I needed a new post. I am procrastinating on a math paper that I have known about for 12 weeks. I have sent hubby out for tortilla chips and salsa. Just sounded really good. I had a thought, "Oh g-d I'm pregnant!" and then realized I'd still be a good 6 weeks away from cravings. So, now, I am just thinking, "Oh g-d I'm fat!" Not much of a morale booster...oh well.

I am so tired. Sam screamed all night. Not yelled, not cried, SCREAMED. She slept for one hour and then thought it would be fun to play. We tried, obviously in vain, to get her back to sleep. We needed sleep. Every person needs sleep. Not Sam. She's bionic. 5:30am she fell asleep. That's when David was getting up and leaving. I slept until she woke up and used my head as a drum at 8:30. 3 hours. 3 friggin hours. I haven't had 3 hours of sleep in a year! Oh, and nap time. What's nap time? I forgot, and so did Sam. She thought it was, scream some more time. Lordy. I know what it is. She has recently had a serious kick of over driven (crap brain work, you know this word--term--so well. function, you can do it.....)separation anxiety. She was great until this week. David has been gone more now with getting ready to leave and all, and she has noticed. It has never been a problem before because we were both always there when she wanted us. Now, she wants daddy and he isn't always there. So, she screams at me. She flips out when you leave the room. She flips out when she wakes up and you aren't in the room. I'm pretty sure she didn't want to go to sleep because when she woke up Saturday daddy wasn't here and she probably thought if she went to sleep he'd leave again. She's out like a light (where did that term come from?) now, knock on wood (and that one too?). I am supposed to be writing my paper free from baby interruptions but I can't. I hate it. I hate math and I hate writing 10-15 pages about math. Ugh. Can someone please tell me why I went to college?

We Accept Responsibility

We accept responsibility for children
who put chocolate fingers everywhere,
who like to be tickled,
who stomp in puddles and ruin their new pants,
who sneak Popsicles before supper,
who can never find their shoes.

And we accept responsibility for those
who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,
who never "counted potatoes",
who are born in places we wouldn't be caught dead,
who never go to the circus,
who live in an x-rated world.

We accept responsibility for children
who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,
who sleep with the dog and bury goldfish,
who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money,
who cover themselves with Band-Aids and sing off key,
who squeeze toothpaste all over the sink,
who slurp their soup.

And we accept responsibility for those
who never get dessert,
who have no safe blanket to drag behind them,
who watch their parents watch them die,
who can't find any bread to steal,
who don't have any rooms to clean up,
whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser,
whose monsters are real.

We accept responsibility for children
who spend all their allowance before Tuesday,
who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food,
who like ghost stories,
who shove dirty clothes under their bed,
and never rinse out the tub,
who get visits from the tooth fairy,
who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool,
who squirm in church and temple and scream in the phone,
whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.

And we accept responsibility for those whose nightmares come in the daytime,
who will eat anything,
who have never seen a dentist,
who aren't spoiled by anybody,
who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,
who live and move but have no being.

We accept responsibility for children who want to be carried and for those who must.
For those we never give up on and for those who don't get a second chance.
For those we smoother...and for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.

Boring

Life is pretty boring right now. We are just waiting for David to leave, and I am going through the worst semester of my life. Sam is almost walking. I am pretty sure she is walking at school because the chick keeps asking if shes walking at home. That's OK, it doesn't count until mommy sees it anyway. Six teeth and counting. I guess it's not so much boring as it is just busy. Hmm....maybe busy is boring. Maybe some down time would be more interesting....STTA.

Ouch

Ok, so my kid thinks she's made of steel. Or something similar. She decided today to spurt blood from a hole in the back of her head. Well, let me back up. We were playing (near the entertainment center, bad bad mommy) and she went backwards. After she bumped her butt I was relieved because it wasn't straight back. Then she continued backwards. And back, and back, and in to the corner of the shelf. Oh yeah. We knew right away there would be screaming so David picked her up to head off the major screaming fit coming. All of a sudden he jumps up and says "She's bleeding!"My heart stopped. I was trying to figure out what he meant. Like, a trickle or a gush....oh my g-d, how much. Then he yelled at me to get a washcloth. As I threw it at him I saw his hand and her chest covered in blood. I flipped out and froze all at once. My mind was moving so fast and my body refused to go anywhere. Then I was moving and searching for a phone. I was screaming for a phone, I couldn't find one. I was going in circles. Finally I found one and called for an ambulance. There was so much blood.

I went out looking for them because they can never find our apartment. When we got inside they were sitting on the couch, Sam on his lap with the washcloth on her head. They looked at her and said she looked to be ok. It wasn't going to need anything and that unfortunately head wounds bleed like crazy. In that case, CAN SOMEONE PUT THAT IN THE PARENT MANUAL SO WE DON'T FREAK OUT!?!?!? There really was a lot of blood, and she seemed ok and after a nap ok'd by the doc she was up and about. She definitely has a headache, and is a little calmer now. But, nothing horrible so far (knock on wood). Scared the crap out of me. Cried for awhile, really freaked me out.
